SCHEDULING PROCESS

Counselor's Role
The scheduling process officially begins with the distribution of scheduling information and materials including teacher recommendations. Students are directed to share information with their parents and begin planning a list of courses, including alternates.

Annually students meet individually with their counselor to review their four year plan and make necessary adjustments. Post secondary goals and academic progress are evaluated.

In late spring and summer, after the course requests have been processed and the master schedule constructed, the counselors adjust students' requests and schedules as dictated by the master schedule. It is very likely that alternates will be used to resolve conflicts. Not all classes in the course selection booklet will be available and students need to research alternates carefully.

The finalized copy of the students' schedules will be picked up during registration in late August or early September.

Student/Parent's Role
It is the students' responsibility to discuss the information and share the materials with their parents. The need for viable alternates is most important to the formulation of a course request list. Parents, not only help with decision-making, but assist the student in researching information and making contact with the teacher and/or counselor as programming issues or concerns arise. Keeping in mind that not all classes will be offered, parents indicate their agreement of the course selections by signing and having the student return the printed list of requests which was developed jointly with the counselor.
Schedules will be picked up during registration in August. Errors should be addressed at this time, following the procedure outlined in the registration packet.

Teacher's Role

The teachers play a vital role by providing students with recommendations for the next year's classes. The teacher is most aware of the students' work and work habits in the classroom and will make recommendation that will allow for the greatest success and fulfillment of potential. Questions regarding placement in a particular subject are best answered by the teacher.
