1.  What are the participation requirements at Cornerstone?

    a)  The Participation commitment at Cornerstone consists of four requirements

            i.     Teaching shifts

            ii.    Service Hours   

            iii.   Attend In-services  

            iv.   Attend General Parent Meetings  

2)  What are the teaching shifts?  

  1. Kindergarten        AM                  8:10 am to 11:55 pm 

                                    PM                 10:25 am to 2:10 pm

  1. 1st - 2nd Grade    AM                  8:10 am to 11:50 am

                                   PM                  11:40 am to 3:00 pm

   c.  3rd - 5th Grade    AM                  8:10 am to 11:50 am   

                                   PM                  11:40 am to 3:10 pm

3)      What are the teaching shift requirements for each family?  

  1. One child-4 shifts in a 4 week scheduling month  

  2. Two children- 5 shifts in a 4 week scheduling month  

  3. Three or more children-6 shifts in a 4 week scheduling month    

4)      How do my shifts get assigned?  

  1. Shifts are assigned by the classroom participation rep who schedules your shifts based on the two available days you indicated on the scheduling survey.      

  2. You may be assigned to work a curriculum related elective. Examples of a curriculum related elective is working in the IMC or library, or leading a Junior Great Books or Math Explorations group. The monthly schedules are provided in Friday folders two weeks before the month begins.    

5)      What are the rules for service hours?

  1. You are required to complete a minimum of 15 service hours per year.  One half (7.5 hrs) should be completed by the end of January.

  2. Please account for all your service hours as we receive credit from the district for total school wide volunteerism. 

  3. You are expected to sign up for at least one committee at the Festival of Opportunities.

6)      What are In-services and Parent Training Workshops?

  1. In-services and Parent Training Workshops are one of the most important educational forums for our parents.  They are conducted by the teacher, other parents or consultants to ensure parents provide an informed and knowledgeable contribution to the classroom.  In-services and Parent Training Workshops are mandatory and should be attended by the person working in the classroom the most.  

7)      What and when are the General Parent meetings?

  1.  General parent meetings are the established forum for learning about and addressing  school issues. They are held on the 2nd or 3rd Tuesday evening of each month.  These meetings are mandatory.
