Where's the Bus? Who's Absent Today? Hawthorne Office Staffers Know

Denise Ball has been a secretary in the attendance office here since 1999. Back in 1994 she was an aide in the Special Education department. She applied for the different position because it was an advancement as well as just being a change in scenery. Mrs. Ball tracks the attendance of each student so that the state knows how much to pay the school.

She asks that students and parents call in absences before noon. Students who do that don't have to come in and get a readmit slip.

Mrs. Ball checks on absent students.

Elizabeth Nomura was a teacher's aide at the Sunrise Early Childhood Center in Valmonte, she works here now because she wanted more hours and this was the position that had them. She does much the same thing as Mrs. Ball, working the phones, checking up on absences, and then clearing them.

She asks that students who are planning to leave campus during the school day either bring a signed note or have their parent call ahead.

Ms. Nomura logs in absent students.

Jeanne Shiosaki is the secretary of athletics, discipline, and plant management here at Peninsula. She started here after working two years as an attendance secretary. She took the change because it was an opportunity for advancement. Mrs. Shiosaki does much for the school, especially for athletics. She is responsible for arranging the busses for all the away games for every sport on campus. In addition, she writes up the master calendar for the school and is whom you need to see about paying for your parking pass.

She asks that students please bring correct change when getting a parking pass.

Mrs. Shiosaki makes sure the busses run.
