Academic Decathlon, a school organization, has one goal in mind: to reach the national competition that takes place each year.

Before reaching the national competition, the team must compete against sixty Los Angeles schools to determine whether or not the Peninsula team will go to the state competition.

Peninsula's Team has not reached state competition since 2003, but each year the team works hard to make it through county competition, placing in the top 20 each year for the last six years.

The competing team consists of nine members divided into three levels. The honors level is for students with a GPA of 3.75 or higher. Scholastic is for the students with a 3.0-3.74 GPA, and Varsity is for students with GPA below 3.0.
