COMMAND CENTER

The Command Center at PVPHS consists of the Principal Kelly Johnson and about 4% of staff who will aid in coordinating communications, operations, and all personnel. Students may be utilized as runners wearing orange vests.

Post Location: Baseball Field --- In-field
Equipment Location: In the cargo container next to the Portables M44-45 in a box labeled Command Center

EQUIPMENT: Bullhorn (2), list of all staff assignments, absentee list, disaster plan, Log of Actions Taken forms, School Status forms, small maps of school, large map, battery powered radio, walkie-talkies, pads, post-its, pens, scissors, clips, masking tape, paper clips, Sharpies, pencils, highlighter, 3-hole punch, and blank labels.

PROCEDURES:
1. Receive ALL ACCOUNTED FOR forms from every teacher.

2. Principal coordinates all personnel and operations:
Reassign staff as needed . . . collect information . . . communicate via walkie-talkie with all teams . . . communicate with district office, if possible . . . call for emergency assistance

3. Status of reports from Search and Rescue will be documented on large map of school.

4. As information regarding injured, missing, or dead is given from ALL ACCOUNTED FOR forms, send information to Search and Rescue for use by Search and Rescue teams. Notices can be sent with runners from Runners Pool. Delicate information should be sent with a runner not announced over walkie-talkies.

5. Communicate with Medical Aid Team concerning casualties. (Keep radio transmissions brief. Call team and name individual, i.e., Triage, Chris Glassy.)

6. DOCUMENT ALL ACTIONS taken on forms provided on clipboard and periodically assess the situation and make necessary changes. Use unassigned staff and volunteers, not previously assigned, to fill forms and remind leader of updates necessary.

7. Fill out School Status Form and revise every 2 hours. Report any changes in your situation or others following AFTERSHOCKS.

8. Coordinate with all arriving agencies, i.e., fire, police, Red Cross, Cable TV (can aid in communication), media, etc.

9. Monitor portable radio and/or ham radio continuously. This will help keep the staff updated as to the progress of events throughout the area. Use an adult or responsible student with radio and headphones for accurate report.

10. Student runners must always work in pairs but can be used to carry message to other stations, bring items to the Command Center from the cargo container, as needed, and help organize basic paper work.
