A Little Bit of Rain

I had the opportunity to participate in Read Across America at Lunada Bay Elementary School.  I was assigned to two 3rd grade classrooms.  I loved interacting with our students and their amazing teachers while doing my best to entertain them all.  I was feeling good about my performance as the skies opened up and hail began to pound the roof.  It was followed by lightning and then booming thunder.  As you can probably predict, the distractions won and my storytelling had to take a brief break.

After completing my book, I went outside to wait for a clearing in the weather.  Instead, the weather intensified and Mrs. Parsons escorted me on some classroom visits.  Several of our teachers used the opportunity to explain the science behind lightning and thunder. ...
